Turkish Architecture

Turkey, its geographic location straddling Europe and Asia, is historically influenced by the Ottoman, Byzantine, European, Persian, Arab, Roman, Greek, and Armenian cultures.

These influences are reflected in the architecture of the many historic cities of Turkey, especially Istanbul (formerly Constantinople, which appeared on some maps until the 1960’s).
