Here’s Why You Need to Know About the 1917 Silent Parade | HuffPost

The anti-lynching protest became known as the first mass demonstration by African Americans.

My Comments: The disturbing, shameful events that led up to this were never mentioned in school and reading this brief history makes it clear why it wasn’t.  I don’t remember what we were taught about African Americans in this country after the Civil War.   Other than they were treated miserably (especially in the South), subjected to humiliation, violence and death (especially in the South) few details were mentioned until the Civil Rights movement in the 1960’s  I’m going to learn more.
